In this class, you will learn how to write and talk about yourself and your family, as well as learn simple Spanish expressions to carry on a basic conversation. You will learn the vocabulary needed for a variety of different settings, including asking for directions, telling the date and time, going shopping, and conversing over the phone. You will also learn the past, present, and continuous verb tenses.

You will learn the vocabulary needed for more complex situations including interviewing for a job, speaking with your boss, visiting the doctor’s office, paying your bills, etc. You will read the newspaper and discuss and write about current events. You will improve your reading and writing skills and feel more comfortable conversing with native English speakers.

This FREE class prepares you to pass the Test Assessing Secondary Completion, aka TASC (previously known as the “GED”).
Classes meet twice per week, on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m.
Experienced teachers provide instruction in subjects such as English, Math, Social Studies, and Science to help students earn their equivalency diplomas.

Citizenship Class

Get on the path to US Citizenship!

This FREE class is designed to guide permanent residents through the process of obtaining US citizenship. The course accepts students of all levels and prepares them to pass the USCIS civics, reading, and writing tests, as well as the verbal interview. Our instructors also help students understand and complete form N-400.

This group meets on Tuesday evenings from 6:30-9:00 to practice language and exchange culture in a friendly atmosphere. Participants can sharpen their skills by conversing with native speakers as well as other language learners.

All skill levels, from beginner to advanced, are welcome.

This English conversation class for beginners is offered in partnership with the NYC Mayor’s Office of Immigrant Affairs. The classes utilize We Are New York, an Emmy Award winning television series designed to help beginner English learners improve their listening and speaking skills.
This is a FREE class.

In this class, the focus is on spoken English, writing, idioms, and advanced sentence structure and grammar. You will improve your English language skills to convey the exact thoughts and ideas you want to express. Discussions on current events, challenging readings, and other materials will be used to help you improve your fluency and increase your confidence in communicating in English for a variety of different situations and settings.
