"Everyone is welcome" is more than a slogan. It's part of our core values and why Together One New York is a voice for the immigrant community.

Meet Marina

Born in Colombia, Marina lived in Italy for 7 years before she immigrated to the United States in 1981. She recalls that learning English as an adult was the hardest part of adjusting to life in the USA. To this day, she takes advanced English conversation classes in order to continue building her fluency. What does she say about the struggles she faced along the way? "It was hard, but worth it. This is my home. The United States is my country."

Beatriz, a member of our community, was born in Colombia and is now a US Citizen. Independence Day has a special meaning to her, as she is aware of the struggles someone who comes from another country faces in order to experience the freedom that America offers. Beatriz spent the Fourth of July holiday volunteering at an area event to help Together One New York raise much-needed funds while advocating for the rights of immigrants.
